From site prep to final planting, no trades to coordinate or gaps to manage.
We know exactly how to handle the blocks in Perth’s northern suburbs.
The same people who quote your project are the ones who build it.
What New Build Owners Are Dealing With
Most new builds in Perth’s northern suburbs hand over with the same starting point: sand. No lawn, reticulation, drainage and often no topsoil. The builder has done their job and now it’s over to you to put the finishing touches on.
For a lot of homeowners, that’s when the overwhelm sets in. Who do you call first – the landscaper, the reticulation company, the paving contractor? How do you know what order things need to happen in? And can you possibly get it done before summer, or when your family comes to stay?
If your block is sloping, coastal or up near Two Rocks and Quinns Rocks, you’ve likely got added complexity on top of that – cap rock to deal with, site levels to manage or a wind-exposed garden that needs the right plants from the outset. While these aren’t problems that a generic landscaper handles well, they’re exactly what we do at Kinetic Landscaping.
Everything Your Garden Needs, DONE IN THE RIGHT ORDER
New construction landscaping isn’t just about what you plant. It’s also about doing things in the right order so nothing has to be undone or redone later. Here’s how we approach a blank block:
Site Works & Preparation
Excavation, levelling and cap rock removal if required. We get the block ready before anything else goes in.
Retaining Walls
Essential on sloping or multi-level blocks. We manage council approvals where required, so you don’t have.
Lawn, Reticulation & Drainage
Roll-on lawn or artificial grass, paired with a reticulation system designed for Perth’s sandy soils and watering day regulations.
Low Maintenance Gardens
Climate-appropriate, low-maintenance species suited to Perth’s climate. Coastal-friendly planting where conditions call for it.
Paving & Paths
Driveways, alfresco areas, pool surrounds – a full range of paving and cladding option for new house landscaping.
Decking
Timber and composite decking suited to entertaining and outdoor living spaces that are built to last over time.
Privacy Screens and Gates
Custom-designed and installed to suit both your block and your home’s architectural style.
Garden Lighting
Path, feature and garden lighting – functional, well-designed and seamlessly fitted to the finished garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
When Is The Right Time To Start Landscaping A New Build?
You don’t need to wait until your builder hands over. As soon as you have a timeframe to completion and the walls are up (so we can assess things like positioning and access) we can get started on planning. Getting us in early means we can design around reticulation, drainage and levels properly from the beginning. That said, if you’ve already moved in, there’s no wrong time to start the conversation.
Do I Need To Have A Design Ready, Or Can You Help With That?
You don’t need anything prepared. Most of our new-build clients come to us with a rough idea of what they want and how much they’re willing to spend, we work through the design with you at the onsite consultation. We’ll talk through what’s realistic for your space and budget and help you prioritise what to do first.
My Block Is Just Sand. Can You Actually Work With That?
Yes, that’s the most common starting point for new builds in the northern suburbs. Sandy soil needs the right preparation, reticulation design and species selection to perform well long term. We’ve been working with these blocks for years and know exactly what they need. If there’s cap rock or poor drainage on top of that, we bring in the machinery to handle it, including larger equipment like a 10-tonne excavator when the job calls for it.
Do I Need Council Approval For Any Of The Work?
It depends on the scope. Retaining walls above a certain height, some structural elements and anything near site boundaries can require council approval. We manage that process for you, meaning you won’t need to deal with the council directly. We’ll flag anything that may need sign-off as part of the quote process.
How Long Does A New-Build Landscaping Project Take?
It depends on the scope of work. Basic landscaping can be completed in under a week, while a full new-build transformation – lawn, reticulation, paving, garden beds and structures – typically runs from a few weeks to several months for larger projects. Weather can also impact timelines, particularly for earthworks and concreting. We’ll give you a realistic schedule in your quote and keep you updated throughout if anything changes.
